You’re engaged! Congrats! Now what??? Well come to the Ottawa Wedding Palace: a huge bridal show held at the Westin Hotel. For two days (Jan 9th and 10th) you will find every vendor you are looking for and then some.
Come check out my booth (#251). I am right beside the stage where the beautiful wedding/fashion shows will be held. Smack dab in the middle; can’t miss it! If you are looking for a wedding photographer, there will be 20 photographer vendors there to choose from. I ALWAYS say that choice is great and a perfect opportunity to comparsion shop. As a bride, you should be looking for a photographer who has:
- at least a full set of pictures from a wedding. This way, you can see consistency in their work.
- many wedding album samples to see the quality of the books
- stunning imagery: it’s one day!
- technical knowledge
- information about packages and pricing on the spot
- personality (you have to smile at them all day so you have to like them)
Another thing to consider are the high resolution files. Be knowledgable. Ask if you receive the rights to your photographs and if they are high resolution. This way you will be able to print off many prints/enlargements after your wedding without having to come back to the photographer for additional costs. In addition, ask the photographer if they are edited or not. What good are the high resolution files if they are not edited! Unless you are a pro in Lightroom and Photoshop, you will be at a loss. If you see a photographer you like during the show, ask if they are already booked or not for your wedding date.
Your head will be spinning after this show will all of the information you receive. My advice…pick up the brochures at the tables (for pricing , etc.), talk to the photographers who interest you, take the info home, open up a bottle of wine and browse through the information. But don’t wait too long, If your wedding is this summer and you still haven’t secured a wedding photographer, you need to ASAP. A lot of the premium dates have more than likely already been booked.
